Description
Making skyscraper building technology affordable for everyone, Magnum® Moment Frames are the “erector set” for residential and light commercial construction. Minimal steel erection experience required. These structural steel frames require no welding or hot rivets. Designed to resist hurricane wind loads, they are ideal for elevation of existing or new homes and commercial buildings in flood prone regions. No job is too small; they are perfect for high-end residential or commercial pool shelters, picnic shelters, and outdoor kitchen and living areas. They are galvanized for coastal exposure and a lifetime of service.
The Magnum MMA-HURG Moment Frame Hurricane Strap has an allowable hold-down capacity of 6 kips. The hurricane Strap consists of 14 gauge plate steel to attach to exterior corner columns of a Magnum Moment Frame and onto the sheathing of the home and through to the corner framing studs.
Installation Notes:
Magnum MMA-HURG Moment Frame Hurricane Straps are installed onto the exterior column face with (2) 7/8″- 9 UNC bolts. Once bolted, nail the Hurricane Strap onto the new or existing sheathing of the home. Lap siding or other exterior finishes can be installed over the Hurricane Strap.
Hurricane Straps are recommended at all exterior corners and significant jobs in the building envelope to resist overturning of shear walls during hurricane winds and for additional hold-down strength.
